Thank you for visiting the Adopt-A-Child-Size and Support Services, Inc. website.  Since its beginning, this non-profit organization has served over 11,000 Michigan children and their families in western Wayne and eastern Washtenaw counties, providing much needed winter clothing, coats, and boots.  Without the project's assistance, most of these children would have suffered through the cold Michigan winter without the warmth provided by the necessary items.  In addition, all children have received at least one book, and some have received an educational toy.

Notably,

  • Adopt-A-Child-Size and Support Services, Inc. has no paid staff, and is run solely by volunteers who have donated thousands of hours of their time to ensure the project's ongoing success.  A Board of Directors manages the organization and the Executive Director is responsible for day-to-day operations.
  • The project is supported solely through donations of time, money, and clothing from individuals, businesses, agencies, churches, and other organizations.  No government funds are received.  All donations are tax deductible.
  • All recipients are referred by health, human service, community service, educational, and religious agencies.  Agencies that are invited to refer children must serve low-income populations and verify need and eligibility according to very strict standards based on Federal poverty guidelines.  Recipients must be in need with no other resources available.
  • Eligible families receive assistance on a one-time basis.  The goal is to provide a "hand up" and to avoid creating dependency.

Each year, thousands of children in our service area are in danger of facing the harsh Michigan winter weather without proper clothing.  With your support, Adopt-A-Child-Size and Support Services, Inc. can continue to ensure that at least some of these children will be warm, in spite of their family's difficult circumstances.
