The referring agency staff must utilize the Eligibility Criteria below when selecting families for referral to Adopt-A-Child-Size and Support Services, Inc.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Family has not been referred and received clothing in the past.
    
2. Family will not be referred to other resources for coats or clothing.
    
3. Family resides in an Out Wayne County or Eastern Washtenaw County community.  This includes Downriver, communities west of Detroit, Northwest of Detroit, and Southwest of Detroit.  
   
   Children living in Detroit should be referred to the Adopt-A-Child program in the City of Detroit.
    
4. Gross family income and source must be verified.  Income must be within the poverty guidelines.  If family is employed, parents earning minimum wage, or a very low wage for family size,  or a very large family for income earned will be considered.
    
5. Children who wear child sizes are eligible.  Children wearing adult sizes are not eligible.
    
6. Actual need must be established, based upon observation, home visit, assessment and income.
   
   Parent request is not sufficient reason for referral.
    
7. Application must be completed by parent/grandmother/legal guardian or foster parent.
   • Referrals not completed by family will be returned "unserved".
   • Staff are not to complete the application nor sign the family's name.
      
8. Applications must be completed and submitted by the deadline.
   • Incomplete referrals will be returned "unserviced"
   • NO referrals will be accepted after the deadline.
